  1. Hold your mirror in place with your thumb and make four large stitches to hold mirror in place.
  2. Make a further four stitches as illustrated.
  3. Come up close to the edge of the mirror with your needle and catch the foundation threads, with the thread under the needle (simular to blanket stitch). Make a small stitch near the mirror, with the thread under the needle again and pull tight. If you pull too tight there won't be enough thread to hold the mirror in place.
  4. Bring the needle under the foundation threads, with the thread under the needle as before. This time, when making the small stitch alongside the mirror, stitch into the previous loop stitch.

TIPS AND HINTS

TIP 1 Use the maximum amount of ply on your embroidery cotton.

TIP 2 Pay attention to the tension as you pull the foundation thread out to create the frame. If you pull too tight the mirror may pop out.

TIP 3 The technique can be applied to circular mirrors, and square shaped mirrors. If you are on a budget you the large plastic sequins they look just as good.

TIP 4 You will get neater the more you practice!
